Photographer Reuben Wu Gives Mountains Halos Using Drones And Long Exposure

This ongoing project entitled Lux Noctis by Chicago-based photographer Reuben Wu «depicts landscapes within the framework of traditional landscape photography but influenced by ideas of planetary exploration, 19th-century sublime romantic painting, and science fiction.» Wu imagined these scenes as the familiar transformed into undiscovered landscapes to renew perceptions of our world.

Each image is a carefully-planned scene consisting of multiple lighting positions, layered to produce a theatrically-lit composition. Using the GPS-enabled aerial light/drone in specific positions in space, I am able to create moods of drama and tension through chiaroscuro, and the ability to illuminate isolated features of a scene and exclude unwanted elements.  Via: Co. Destino: A Salvador Dalí and Walt Disney Collaboration Circa 1945

‘A magical display of the problem of life in the labyrinth of time.’ –Salvador Dalí

The film Destino tells the story of Chronos, the personification of time and the inability to realize his desire to love for a mortal. The scenes blend a series of surreal paintings of Dali with dancing and metamorphosis. The poetic, wordless animation features a score by Mexican composer Armando Dominguez performed by Dora Luz.

The target production began in 1945, 58 years before its completion and was a collaboration between Walt Disney and the Spanish surrealist painter, Salvador Dalí. Salvador Dali and Walt Disney Destiny was produced by Dali and John Hench for 8 months between 1945 and 1946. Slow Life: Macro Time-lapse of Corals by Daniel Stoupin

“Slow Life” is a breathtaking time-lapse video revealing the secret life of exotic corals and sponges. The short film was created by Daniel Stoupin, a photographer and PhD student at the University of Queensland in Australia.

“Corals were illuminated with full-spectrum lamp imitating natural ambient light and bringing out fluorescent colors that are not apparent under white light.”

«Slow»marine animals show their secret life under high magnification. Corals and sponges are very mobile creatures, but their motion is only detectable at different time scales compared to ours and requires time lapses to be seen. These animals build coral reefs and play crucial roles in the biosphere, yet we know almost nothing about their daily lives.
